Frequently asked questions.
How often do I need my pool cleaned?
Cleaning your pool is more than skimming the leaves off the top, it also involves chemically balancing, brushing, vacuuming, cleaning the filters, and checking the pump. How often your pool will need cleaning will depend mostly on usage, but we recommend once a week to extend pool life.
How often do I need to test my water?
Even with automatic chemical readers, it is recommended to test your sanitizer (chlorine), pH, and total alkalinity once a week manually throughout the year to ensure good water health for your swimmers. During peak swim season, twice a week is ideal.
What chemicals do I need?
Saltwater pools will need different chemicals from chlorine pools, so always contact a professional before introducing chemicals if you are unsure. You will need chemicals for total alkalinity, pH adjustment, cyanuric acid, chlorine, and calcium hardness.
How long do I have to wait to use my pool after chemical treatment?
Chemicals added by hand typically take fifteen minutes to an hour to fully disperse throughout the pool. Once that is complete, the pool is good to use. However, different treatments, such as shock, will demand more time for the water to pass through your filter.
How long should I run my pump?
During swim season, the pump must cycle all of the water in the pool at least once per day. Generally, this means 6-8 hours of run time. To calculate the run time you will need, divide the pool’s volume by the pump’s turnover rate (gallons per hour). For example, a 25,000 gallon pool with a 2500 gph pump will yield a 10 hour run time (25000÷2500=10).
